Open Source -Initiativen in Indonesien
In Indonesien tut sich Einiges zum Thema Open Source.
So wird GNU/Linux inzwischen vonseiten der Regierung distribuiert. I Made Wiryana, technischer Koordinator der Regierungs-Initiative fasst die Entwicklungen kurz in englischen Worten zusammen:
"On 2001, Indonesia President released an Instruction (it is called, INPRES 02/2001). This document encouraged the development of Software in Indonesia language. I was appointed as the "head of software design". At the moment we have chosen the GNU/Linux as the platform, due to the possibility, and the cost to provide a complete desktop solution in Indonesia language. We provide and distribute the CD, the manual (it is about 10 books). And we also introduce the Open Source License (GPL, BSD) to the government institutions. During August 2001 - December 2001, we performed the translation of KDE 2.x (the Help files and also the po files). And we built a distribution. It is called WINBI. Since we identified that the eGov offices need a groupware solution,we also developed Kantaya (Kantor Maya - Virtual Office). The result of translation works will be used as the basic in performing the next translation work in Indonesia. On August 2002, there was an event called, eGov award. In this event, the President of Indonesia officialy launched and introduced WinBI to the people (the audience of this event). I have the video that we used for launching WinBI."
